Students at schools around Scioto County are paying tribute to Senior Ajay Stiles, who passed away after a brave health battle last week.
On Tuesday, January 30, students at Wheelersburg, Valley, Northwest, Clay, West, Green, Portsmouth, New Boston, East, Notre Dame, and Portsmouth STEM Academy wore red to show their support for the Stiles family.
Students are asked to bring a $1 donation to go to the Stiles family.
Community members remembered the young man as a “sweet, polite, brave, and positive young man.”
The photographer who took his senior pictures said he asked if he could bring a Bible along to use as a prop in his senior pictures. In a Facebook post, Kourtney Sherman said she hadn’t thought much about it until she went back to look at the photos, “In the picture of the Bible, my camera was focused in on the “14” and the verses that followed. John 14:1-4.
“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.”
