Man Arrested For Domestic Violence After Food Fight
Officers arrested a 42-year-old Portsmouth man for domestic violence after an incident on Tuesday evening.
It all started just before 8 pm, when a woman called the police to report an incident with her estranged husband and father-in-law.
She told officers that she and her husband were in the process of a divorce but had gone out to dinner to attempt to work things out. She said they’d been drinking, so her husband’s parents came to pick him up. Her father-in-law had demanded the keys to his truck.
The parents left the scene, but returned while the officer was there. The officer explained that the truck was marital property and the woman did not have to give them the keys.
About an hour later, police were called back to the scene when the woman said her husband hit her and threw food everywhere.
Officers took the husband into custody on a charge of domestic violence. He was released without bail.
