Portsmouth Police responded to the area of Cricket Wireless around 9:30 pm after multiple callers spotted a man forcing a woman into a vehicle.
Police were able to get positive IDs on the suspect and victim from witnesses. They contacted the suspect, who agreed to meet with police at the fire department.
Police arrested the man and arranged to tow his vehicle and took the woman home. They booked the man into the Scioto County Jail for domestic violence and having weapons under a disability.
Officers said the man had called the woman from the jail while they were speaking with her. The man has previous arrests from Pike County for violating a protection order, vandalism, breaking and entering, and probation violation.
