Officers responded to the Sunrise Church of the Nazarene at 7 am for a report of a man slumped over the steering wheel of his truck.
When officers arrived, they found the unconscious man and spotted a lighter and glass pipe lying on the dash. When they woke the man up, he appeared disoriented and said he didn’t know how he got to the church.
A deputy asked the man how long he’d been clean, and he said he hadn’t smoked meth for several months. When the officer asked about the pipe on the dash, he sighed and admitted he’d smoked some the previous day.
The man said he didn’t have drugs on him, but officers found a baggie full of meth in his pocket when they searched him.
Deputies arrested him for drug possession and booked him into the Lawrence County Jail.
