Man Chokes, Beats Woman on Gallia Street
Just after 2 pm, Portsmouth Police and EMS responded to a report of a man choking and beating a woman in the 2900 block of Gallia.
An ambulance transported the female victim to the hospital while officers took Brandon Lee Myers into custody for felonious assault.
The 22-year-old-man is also currently on probation, so officers arrested him for probation violation as well.
Myers is being held at the Scioto County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
Gun Threat Reported on the Scioto Trail
Just before noon, officers responded to a home on the Scioto Trail for a report that a man was yelling and had threatened to get a gun.
When police arrived at the scene, they discovered a man having a mental health crisis. Police believe he busted out the window of his own vehicle and blamed someone who wasn’t there.
The man asked police to take him to the hospital, then changed his mind and requested that officers arrest him. Police contacted a mental health caseworker. Once the caseworker responded to the scene, the man calmed down.
