The man said he was just trying to ensure the apartment was secure. Officers advised him to move along, and he left the area.
Less than an hour later, police received another break-in call, this time in the 2400 block of 17th Street. The caller said someone had broken into an apartment. Police took information for a report.

Speedway Bars Unwanted Visitors
Once again, unwanted visitors were bothering employees and customers at the Speedway on Gallia. You may recall that the problem is so great that Speedway’s corporate security contacted PPD to ask them to do something about it.
At the time PPD, said they were doing the best they can and cited a large number of addicts and folks leaving rehab facilities on the streets of Portsmouth.
Just before 8 pm, employees requested officers help them bar a man in a camo hat from the building. However, that man left before the officers arrived.

Officers investigating a report of a suspicious person inside a Clayton Court apartment made a surprising discovery in the closet.
Just before 11:30 am, they were asked to check on a supposedly vacant apartment. The rental office said the tenant was currently in rehab, and the place should be empty.
However, one window was open and another was unlocked. When a deputy searched the premises, they found a man hiding under a pile of blankets in the upstairs closet. It turned out he had an open warrant through the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies took him into custody.
Wanted Woman Puts Up a Fight
Officers attempting to serve a woman with a warrant found out she was ready for a fight.
When deputies spoke to her, she requested EMS to look at a hand injury she sustained earlier in the day during an altercation in Sciotoville. Medics determined she did not need to go to the hospital.
When officers took her into custody on an open warrant, she put up a fight and attempted to kick the window of a cruiser out.
Officers arrested her for probation violation.
