On Wednesday, September 28, before a junior high volleyball game, my daughter was held in a locker room at Minford Middle school. The coach stood outside and held the door shut after telling the 8th-grade team to take care of my 7th-grade daughter.
The coach pulled my daughter off the court during practice before a game and ask her which one of the 8th graders she could take one on one. After being locked in this room while the coach stood outside the door, the 8th graders threatened my daughter repeatedly. Repeatedly asking her which one she thought she could take one on one. The athletic director’s daughter told her she would take care of her and it wouldn’t be nice.
After noticing my daughter was missing from the court, I went to the locker room and was met by the coach holding the door shut. When I asked for my daughter, she put her body up against the door and refused to let her out. I went to the athletic director to get my daughter, and she refused also. She said it wasn’t important 3 minutes before the game.
Whenever I asked her to get my daughter while she was being bullied, she refused and repeated that it wasn’t important. It was no coincidence that her daughter was one of the main aggressors against my daughter in the locker room.
The sheriff’s office did come and take an investigation. This coach did admit to repeatedly yelling in my daughter’s face that she sucked. The 8th graders have all been threatened that if they tell what happened in that room, they will be removed from the team, and further disciplinary action will be taken against them. They are all scared to tell the truth now.
