Norma Jean Cole (Cook), 88, of South Webster, went home to be with Jesus on August 17th.
She was born on August 1, 1937, in Lyra, Ohio, to the late Delmar and Hazel (Robinson) Cook. On October 30, 1954, Norma married, Merlyn “Henry” Cole. She and Henry enjoyed 63 years of marriage until his passing in February 2018. She graduated from South Webster High School in the spring of 1955
Norma devoted her life to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother—a role in which she truly shined. She lived with a servant’s heart, pouring her time, energy, and love into her family and friends. Norma served for many years as the treasurer at South Webster Baptist Church and, in recent years, attended Minford Bible Baptist Church.
She was a proud grandmother to five grandchildren, many of whom she cared for full-time during their early years while their parent’s worked. She later had the joy of helping babysit some of her great-grandchildren as well. Her grandchildren fondly remember her home-cooked meals—three a day without fail—her sewing skills, and her faithful attendance at every sporting or academic event. She was strong, independent, and unwavering in her commitment to “show up,” often arriving with sweet treats in hand.
Norma loved the outdoors. She enjoyed tending her garden, planting flowers, and mowing her lawn.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Larry Cook.
She is survived by her brother, Stan Cook, and his wife, Della (Ann) of Grove City; two daughters, Sherry Moore and her husband, Larry, of Wheelersburg, and Terry Hall and her husband, Tim, of Wheelersburg; five grandchildren, Jason Moore, (Betsie) Larrin Fulton, Erica Warner (Martin), Erin Prater (Alex), and Elista Lewis (Derek); and 11 great-grandchildren: Timmy, Kori, Krista, Addison, Skylynn, Logan, Lily, Kai, Rhia, Brady, Boston, and Brynn. She also shared a very special bond with family members Newt and Judy Schaeffer, Marilyn Newsome, and Rodney Niner.
Norma’s life was a beautiful example of love, loyalty, and service. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A private funeral service will be held at a later date. She will be laid to rest in South Webster Cemetery. Services are under the care of the D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in South Webster.
