Portsmouth Police headed to a PMHA Apartment on Robinson Avenue to check on the welfare of a 4-month-old baby after a witness said she saw social media posts of the inside of the home, and it was covered in trash with animal feces everywhere.
The witness also said she’d heard the father shakes the baby, and there was an open CPS case against them.
When officers arrived, the dad’s mother said the baby’s parents had left with the child that morning and gone to stay at the father’s dad’s home. Officers noted there were multiple people and dogs inside the house. The grandmother said she didn’t know the address the parents had gone to, so officers could not perform a welfare check.
Police were called to another PMHA apartment on 14th Street just after 8 pm after a caller said a child was living in unsafe conditions. They said a known felon was staying in the house, there was drug activity, and the mom gave the child its own vape pen. Officers headed to the home, but no one came to the door.
