Officers headed to a Dunlap Road home to investigate a report of a severely malnourished dog. Witnesses said the animal was chained up outside.

When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered that the dog was 15 years old and did not seem to be malnourished. The owner’s mother said the health department had already sent representatives to the home to check on the dog.
She said she had tried to convince her son to euthanize the elderly animal.
