An older woman was left stranded at the Dollar Tree on 5th Street after a thief made off with her walker.
When officers arrived on the scene, the victim was sitting in the office with an employee. The officer took information for a report and then gave the woman a ride to her apartment.
Police notified PMHA about the issue, and they assisted the woman in getting back into her apartment. But the officer wasn’t done yet. She managed to find a new walker for the woman and delivered it to her at home.
SCDN spoke with Portsmouth Police Chief Debby Brewer. She told us that the officer was Tiffany Hedrick, a 21-year veteran of the police department. Chief Brewer also added, “Our evidence tech, Amy Ferguson is the one who donated the walker until Medicaid can replace the one she had.”
