Peggy Jean (Coakley) Mowery passed away on Friday, April 19, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born in Shenandoah, Virginia, on June 5, 1929. She was the daughter of the late Frank Robert and Vivian Irene (Kite) Coakley.
Peggy graduated from Clay High School, Class of 1947. She possessed a love of painting and trained in an art class at Ohio University Portsmouth. Several of her paintings hang in the home where she lovingly raised her six children. She was a wonderful mother who had strived all her life to bring love and comfort to her family. She was a cook of such talent that she shared her favorite recipes in many corners. Being a Grandma to all these wonderful children was the joy of Peggy’s life. She will always be remembered for such love and caring.
In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Gail Powell, a brother, Frank W. Coakley, and a son-in-law, James Climer.
Peggy is survived by her husband of 74 years, Clyde Leland Mowery; children: Rebecca Climer, Steven Mowery (Leasa), David Mowery (Piera), Susanne Cetrulo (Robert), Connie Boldman (Kenny), and Phillip Mowery. Fourteen grandchildren: Sean (Amber), Ryan, Brad (Cindi), Nick and Grace Mowery; Courtney Holbrook (Brandon), Treg Cunningham (Whitney), Brittani Bentley (Jared), Larin Perry (Chad), Nikki Carver (Thomas), Rob Cetrulo (Natalie), Jacob Cetrulo, Steve Climer, and Monica Sa-Ellis (Rickey).
Great grandchildren surviving are: Brynnli, Colin, and Bella Mowery, Hadley, Hudson, and Harlow Holbrook, Jaxon, Nash, Bowen and Josilyn Bentley, Kamri, Kolt, and Mila Perry, Everett and Lena Kate Carver, Daphne Cetrulo, Bear and Kai Cunningham, and Teo Sa-Ellis.
She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews and her sister-in-law, Joyce Coakley.
Services are under the direction of McKinley Funeral Home. Visitation will be Saturday, April 27, 2024 from 1-3 PM at Center Street Church, 173 Center St., Lucasville, Ohio. A celebration of life and family for Peggy Mowery will immediately follow the visitation period.
