Phyllis Ann White, 84, a longtime Portsmouth resident, passed away January 3, 2023, at Green Hills Community in West Liberty. She was born June 20, 1938, in New Boston, a daughter of the late Olna and Dica May Horner Harris.
Phyllis was a Portsmouth High School graduate and she attended Christ’s Community Church. She had been a beautician, working from her home and she taught at Paramount Beauty Academy. Along with her late husband, Ralph, she operated the former Happy Corner in Portsmouth. An avid tennis player, Phyllis loved vegetable gardening, swimming and antiquing, as well as spending time with family on the banks of the Ohio River at the family camp.
She married her husband, Ralph Dee White, in Portsmouth in November of 1955, and he preceded her in death on February 10, 2007, after 52 years of marriage.
Surviving is her son, Todd Dee (Jennifer) White of Bellefontaine; two daughters, Kim Bradley and Renay White, both of Portsmouth; a sister, Kaye (Jim) Hammond of Minford; five grandchildren, Joshua Nichols, P.J. Bradley, Megan (Anton Dodds) White, Ashley White and Todd (Mallory) White, Jr.; and four great-grandchildren, Harper Welch, Oaklee Bryant, Ben White and Brady White.
Funeral services will be held at Noon Saturday at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Elder Ralph Clay officiating and interment in Greenlawn Cemetery.
