A Pike County Standoff ended with the arrest of a Waverly Man. A 22-year-old Waverly man is behind bars after a standoff with police on Tuesday.
It all started when the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a suspicious man knocking on doors in the 700 block of Hackleshin Road.
When deputies responded to the scene, they attempted to detain Tyler Humphrey, a man with multiple open warrants for his arrest.
Humphrey fought the deputy who tried to arrest him, resulting in minor injuries to the officer. Humphrey ran into a home on Hacklehshin Road and barricaded himself inside the house. Officers learned there might be firearms inside the residence.
The Ohio State Patrol joined Waverly and Piketon Police at the scene to offer assistance. After negotiation attempts with Humphrey failed, officers forced entry into the home and took him into custody.
Police transported him to the Scioto County Jail and charged him with resisting arrest. The Pike County Prosecutor’s Office is reviewing the case, and there may be additional charges.
