A local nursing home contacted PPD to track down a 50-year-old patient who fled the River Run Health Care Facility. They described him as 6’5” and 300 lbs.
Officers caught up with him at 17th and High Street and learned he had open warrants out of South Point, Ohio.
However, the man was currently being treated for TB at the facility and seemed confused. Police took him back to the nursing home due to his health issues.
The man escaped two additional times during the day, and two other callers contacted police to complain about the nursing staff, including an EMS worker.
The state cited low health inspection scores and low staffing. However, the 25-bed facility had a lower than average nurse turnover, and residents cited above average satisfaction with caregivers, though family satisfaction with the facility was below average.
