Roger Dean Parsley, 84, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2024, at his residence in Columbus, Ohio. Roger was born February 9, 1940, in Inez, Kentucky, the son of the late Paul Parsley and Opal (Mullins) Newsome.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years Sandy (Smith) Parsley, two daughters Madge L. Parsley and Tonya D. Lester, one grandchild Tiffany Smith, and one sister Debbie Elias.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his daughter Pepper McNabb of Columbus, Ohio, five grandchildren Tara Mayle, Brittany (Kevin) Maynus, Matthew McNabb, Breanna (Moe) Rufai, and Shane Neff all of Columbus, Ohio, and seven great-grandchildren Jo, Ciara, Justin, Kaliyah, Sophia, Buddy, and Diamond, one brother Dennis “Buddy” (Mary) Newsome, and several other family and friends who will sadly miss him.

Roger and his wife Sandy owned the Hilltop Dari Twist on the West side of Columbus, Ohio, for many years and was a Barber at Franco’s Barber Shop in Columbus, Ohio.

Roger’s favorite pastime was playing poker, he was especially good at 7-card stud and Texas Hold’em. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and caring for his landscape.

Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Morton-Hunt Family Funeral Home in South Shore, Kentucky., with Kenny Fox officiating. Burial will follow at Siloam Cemetery in South Shore, Kentucky. Visitation will be on Tuesday at the funeral home from 11 A.M. until the funeral hour.
