A Jacksonville, Florida school janitor admitted he filmed girls changing clothes in a school locker room. In August of last year, two 14-year-old Clay High School students discovered what looked like a camera lens hidden in a locked gym locker in the girls’ locker room. School administrators immediately unlocked the locker and found a phone taped inside. The lens of the phone pointed out of a hole in the locker.
When police experts analyzed the phone, they found a 30-minute video. The video was filmed from a window looking into the locker room and captured female students changing clothes. The careless janitor had the phone positioned to where it showed his identification badge. Law enforcement was able to identify 44-year-old Jason Brian Goff, the Clay High School Custodian.
Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Clay County Sheriff’s Office arrested Goff on September 13, 2019. Goff admitted he attempted to film the girls in the locker room three different times from three different angles.
Extensive Collection Of Disturbing Images
When law enforcement analyzed Goff’s other devices, they discovered more images the janitor filmed in the girls’ locker room and an extensive collection of child pornography. The images included adults sexually abusing children of different ages. There were even images of infant sexual abuse.
Goff pleaded guilty to the attempted production of child pornography. According to law enforcement, he faces a minimum mandatory penalty of 15 years. However, a judge could sentence him to up to 30 years in federal prison for the crime.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office and Homeland Security Investigations investigated the case. Assistant United States Attorney Kelly S. Karase is the prosecutor.
It is another case brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Led by the United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims.
