A corrections officer at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility died from a gunshot wound after an incident at the Corrections Training Academy in Pickaway County this afternoon.
According to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitations and Corrections, Lt. Rodney Osborne died during a “tragic accident” during a training exercise on the tactical firing range.

ODRC Director Annette Chambers-Smith said the Ohio State Patrol was investigating the incident and asked citizens to keep Lt. Osborne’s family and coworkers in their thoughts and prayers.
Oswald was a 13-year veteran of ODRC and was recently named employee of the year. Chambers said Oswald was survived by a wife and children.
