The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) has charged a now former police officer, Cornelius Jacques Barr, 43, with indecent exposure following an investigation requested by the Dillon Police Department.
According to the arrest warrant, Barr allegedly engaged in inappropriate conduct in a public setting, exposing himself in a manner deemed unlawful. The details surrounding the incident remain limited, but officials confirmed that the charge was filed after SLED investigators gathered sufficient evidence.
In a statement obtained by SCDN, the arrest warrant alleges that Barr exposed his penis to a female victim on Feb 4th. The affidavit goes on to say that he did so multiple times, even as the victim took a video of the incident.
Barr was booked into the Dillon County Detention Center on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, and is now awaiting legal proceedings. The 4th Circuit Solicitor’s Office will prosecute the case.
Authorities have not yet released information on whether there are additional victims or if Barr was on duty at the time of the alleged offense. The Dillon Police Department and SLED continue to coordinate efforts in the case.
