State Investigates South Webster Coach After Allegations of Inappropriate Conduct with Student
A South Webster coach and intervention specialist is the subject of a state investigation after allegations she had inappropriate relations with a student.
Nicki Johnson, who is an intervention specialist and coach at Bloom-Vernon Local School District (South Webster), is the subject of an investigation by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI).
According to sources, Ms. Johnson allegedly communicated with students using the SnapChat App. Messages on that app disappear after 24 hours. However, app users can save or screenshot messages, and messaging app companies are able to retrieve ‘deleted’ messages if they are presented with court orders.
The alleged inappropriate behavior is a hot topic among students, and some kids have posted memes on social media depicting Ms. Johnson as a child predator. Though the allegations are unverified, this highlights the impact the situation has on students.
Original images of the memes shared by students were included in our story. However, Ed Litteral, the photographer of the original image, objected to its inclusion, even though the image is still widely shared on social media. But we can tell you that the meme featured an image of Ms. Johnson with the caption “To Catch A Predator.”
This further highlights the sensitive nature of this situation and the impact on everyone in the South Webster community.
Superintendent Marc Kreischer of Bloom-Vernon Local School District issued this statement in response to the allegations: “The Bloom-Vernon Local School District is aware of an ongoing BCI investigation involving Nicole Johnson. The District is committed to the safety and well-being of our students and is fully cooperating with BCI. At this time, the District has begun an internal investigation. While Nicole Johnson remains an employee, she has been directed not to have any contact with Bloom-Vernon students. While these investigations are ongoing, the District will provide no further comment.”
We appreciate Superintendent Kreischer’s prompt response, which came less than 24 hours after our inquiry.
The district is fully cooperating with the Ohio BCI while conducting its internal investigation. Creating a safe and supportive learning environment remains the district’s top priority.
SCDN attempted to reach out to Ms. Johnson for a comment, but so far, we have not had any response.
