Portsmouth Officers spent a weekend responding to 25 storm-related damage calls and crashes on Friday.
The first batch of calls came in on Friday afternoon.
1pm – callers reported traffic lights were out at 11th and Chillicothe, so police had to direct the flow.
1:05 pm – witnesses reported a tree down Pleasant Avenue. City Service closed the road while the cleared the area.
1:30 pm – police responded to a report of a flag pole on a powerline on Winchester Avenue.
2 pm – acaller said an AEP pole was sparking near a Waller Street home. A few minutes later, a tree went down on Coles Blvd, took out cable lines, and blocked the road.
2:30 pm – a powerline was spotted down and parking on Court Street. AEP and officers responded to the scene. Around the same time, the stop sign at 11th and Gay blew over.
4 pm- powerline was spotted sparking and a pole caught fire on Court Street.
Just after 4 pm, the calls for high water began to flood in. At 4:09, police responded to a report of two women stalled in flood waters on Grandview Avenue.
4:11 pm – a report of a car stuck in high water at 14th and Waller came in, and moments later, another caller said a transformer was hanging down at 3rd and Market.

4:30 pm – firefighters requested police help them stop a man who was attempting to drive into the high water on Grandview Avenue.
4:40 pm – 4 cars stuck in high water at Harding and Bonser. Fire needs assistance but no officers were available.
4:47 pm – crash on eastbound US 52
4:41 pm – crash on WB US 52
4:58 pm – car in high water on Gallia. Officers are trying to get children from the vehicle.
5:00 pm – car stuck in high water on 2nd Street
5:19 pm – woman stuck in high water on Gallia Street
5:20 pm – Woman reports basement had flooded on Mabert and water is about to reach breaker box.
5:22 pm – live powerline down on Court Street.
5:32 pm – crash on Gallia in front of Aldi
5:42 pm – Gas leak inside Jackson Avenue home
5:44 pm – crash on Gallia
6: 04 pm – live power line arcing and smoking on Court Street
6:08 pm – woman reports tree hit her house on Robinson Avenue
