Another disturbing incident at South Point Schools, this time involving a student with a knife.
Officers responded to the school after the principal said a knife was concealed in the shoe of a student. He’d called the boy to his office after another student reported an incident. They checked the boy with a metal detector and discovered a Swiss Army Knife concealed in his shoe.
The boy told the officer no one was picking on him, but after a recent stabbing at South Point Elementary, he felt he wanted to protect himself.
The officer took the knife into evidence and had the boy’s father come to pick him up. However, the principal later learned the boy had opened the knife at lunch, brandished it at a student, and threatened to stab him after lunch.
Officers said they would charge the boy with aggravated menacing.
