Deputies were called in after a report of a suspicious fire in McDermott. Just after 11 am, a caller reported that an empty building on McDermott Rushtown Road was on fire and that she’d spotted two men running from the scene.
The Rush Fire Department headed to the blaze and discovered the building wasn’t on fire, but there was a trash fire burning at the scene. However, the fire department requested that deputies investigate because they discovered something suspicious in the fire.
A deputy responded to investigate. While the officer was there, they warned someone they found on the property to stay away.
About an hour later, firefighters and EMS responded to Minford after a caller reported a hunting shack was on fire. The woman said she feared the fire would get away from her and catch the woods on fire.
