Multiple agencies responded to a call of a bicycle rider being struck. Initially, the call was for Arby’s. Officers continued to search for the injured party and located him in the westbound lane of US 52 near the Rt 73 exit in West Portsmouth.
Once they located the victim, they determined that he was a teenager. The victim stated that the vehicle that struck him did not stop. The vehicle was described as a black truck or SUV.
The Scioto County Sheriff’s Department was contacted as well as the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Officers checked the area and obtained Tim Hortons security camera footage in an effort to identify the vehicle described by the victim.
The teen was transported to SOMC. After making a brief statement to police, his mother headed to the hospital to be with him.
