Thieves Steal From Dead Man

Thieves stole property belonging to a dead man and officers responded to 3 car crashes in 10 minutes on Monday. We break down the highlights from the Portsmouth Police Crime Log.

The Man With A Face Tattoo

Just after midnight, a caller reported a man with face tattoos dressed all in black acting strangely at the CVS on the Scioto Trail. A witness described him as talking out of his head and threatening to harm himself.

Police were unable to locate him.

Hey, That’s My Stuff!

  • At 8:48 am, officers received a report of a break-in at a building the Conley River Terminal. Among the stolen items were a propane tank heater, DVD, Carhartt coats, a monitor, and a NAPA battery tender.
  • Half an hour later, a person staying in a camper at the same location reported a missing extension cord, wallet, two electric heaters, a box of jewelry, knives, rings, pots, pans, and a speaker.
  • Just after noon, a Robinson Avenue woman reported another woman stole money from her apartment.
  • At 1:42 pm, a caller said they’d loaned a car to a woman who refused to give it back.
  • A Buckley Avenue caller reported a stranger going through her belongings on her screen porch at 4 pm.  He left with stolen items in hand.

Stealing From the Dead

Officers answered a  burglary in progress call to 6th Street at 10:23 am.  A neighbor saw a woman in a yellow hoodie climb through the windows of an apartment belonging to a recently deceased man.  The woman and a man were then seen carrying property out the back door.  Officers secured the door and suggested the landlord board up the property.
