Once again, the Pike County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a stabbing. This is the third stabbing in the county in the past two weeks.  It’s also the second incident involving someone with the last name Titer on Buchanan Road in two weeks.

The most recent incident happened on Sunday night. Sheriff James E. Nelson reported that the call came in just after 11 pm. A woman called Pike County dispatch and reported a stabbing on Buchannan Road.

A private vehicle took the victim, Terry Lynn Titer, 49, to Adena Pike Hospital. An air ambulance transported Titer to OSU Medical Center in Columbus. The Sheriff said Titer suffered two stab wounds just below the left side of the rib cage.

The Sheriff said his office is still looking for a suspect.  He asked anyone with information concerning the case to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 740-947-2111.

Stabbed In The Chest

Just a week ago, Jacob A. Friend was stabbed in the chest just before 9:30 pm. Officers responded to a report of a stabbing at Auerville Road and Morgans Fork Road and discovered Mr. Friend with a wound to the upper-left chest area.

The 30-year-old was transported to OSU Medical Center via air ambulance.  Anyone who may have information concerning the case is asked to call the Pike County Sheriff’s Office at 740-947-2111.

When they got there, sure enough, the found a man with a stab wound to his abdomen. The Sheriff’s Office identified him as Richard Titer, Jr., 51, of Springfield.

Deputies also discovered another man in pretty bad shape. Patrick Colburn, 56, who lived down the road from the scene of the attack was injured. Officers said he was hit with a ball bat. Colburn received injuries to his head and upper body.

Mr. Titer was transported by Medflight to Grant Hospital for treatment. The Pike County Rescue Squad transported Mr. Colburn to nearby Adena Pike Hospital. The Sheriff’s Office said their investigation uncovered that Samuel B. Smith, 42, of Johnson, of Hill Road was responsible for the attack on Mr. Colburn. The report didn’t say who officers suspect was behind the stabbing.

Officers arrested Mr. Smith and charged with felonious assault.  They transported him to the Butler County Jail where Pike County houses inmates. Pike County Sheriff James E. Nelson said it’s likely additional charges will be filed. A case against Mr. Smith will be presented to the Pike County Grand Jury next time it is in session.
