Thompson is Portsmouth Trooper of the Year

The Portsmouth Post of the Ohio State Patrol selected Trooper Trent J. Thompson as the 2024 Trooper of the Year.  

The 32-year-old McDermott man is married and recently welcomed a baby boy. According to the Ohio State Patrol, they picked Thompson in recognition of his outstanding service, leadership ability, professional ethics, courteous treatment, enthusiastic attitude, and cooperation with coworkers and the public.  

This award also means Thompson will be up for District and State Trooper of the Year awards.  

Thompson is a 10-year veteran of OSP and has served at both the Ironton and Portsmouth posts.  A graduate of West High School and Shawnee State University, he’s also received awards for criminal patrol, physical fitness, safe driving, and traffic safety.
