Vet Needed Help: Portsmouth Police Offered Immediate Aid

From the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing.

Portsmouth Police responded to Gallia Street for a report of a Vet who threatened to drive into a brick wall or off a bridge and refused to get out of his vehicle.

Portsmouth Ambulance Medics reached out to the VA in Chillicothe who agreed to accept the man. An officer completed an emergency admission form to take the man to SOMC for immediate evaluation.

Help for the Homeless

At 3 am, two units responded to a report of a suspicious person in Tracy Park. Police discovered a man with no place to go.

An officer was able to obtain a bed for the man at the 8th Street homeless shelter and transported the man there to spend the night.
