A frightening incident occurred at Boland’s Mini Mart in West Portsmouth on Friday evening.
The caller reported that a man got into their vehicle who appeared to be heavily intoxicated. A few moments later, he saw a blue van and jumped into it.
Reports say he almost immediately passed out, then the van rolled into the building.
He was still “unconscious and snoring” when the first deputy arrived on scene. The deputy called for an ambulance. The deputy administered 2 doses of Narcan. Soon after, it was reported that the man was “waking up slowly.”
Multiple agencies, including EMS, converged on the scene to render aid.
The suspect was identified as Nathan Palmer, 34, who had no valid license. He was entered into the system as having violent tendencies.
The deputies ran the information on the 2 vehicles and the victim who was originally approached for the report.
Officers also spoke to staff members at Bolands trying to figure out what happened, like, where he came from. The suspect was transported to SOMC.
No arrests have been made at this point as this story is still developing. We will update as more information becomes available.
