William Bernard “Butch” Leach II, 66, of Wheelersburg

William Bernard “Butch” Leach II

William Bernard “Butch” Leach II.  His faith is now sight!   On September 23rd, Butch entered the presence of the Savior he loved and sang about.  Butch was born on August 30th, 1958, in Portsmouth to the late William Bernard Leach and Margaret Sarah Sapp.  He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Roger Ashley, and his in-laws, Estill and Pauline Bentley.

Butch loved big.  He loved his family big.  He married Karen Bentley Leach on March 14, 1986 at the Wheelersburg Church of the Nazarene. Together, they had two sons that were the joy of his life.  Left to mourn this huge loss are his wife Karen, his sons, Brandon Leach of Wheelersburg and Caleb (Chelsey) Leach of Chillicothe.  Butch was a smitten Grampy to his only grandchild, William Samuel Leach. He also leaves behind his sisters, Brenda Ashley, Debbie (Leland)Pruitt and Lisa (Doug) Parker.  Butch leaves behind a host of other family, friends, nieces, and nephews that were drawn to his wonderful sense-of-humor.  He also had tremendously skilled and loving caregivers, Connie Buckler and Charity Temple.

Butch graduated from Wheelersburg High School in 1976 and has always been a die-hard Pirate supporter.  He attended Mount Vernon Nazarene University, where he was known as “Grizz” to his friends.  He loved recalling the antics of his college years, especially his life-changing mission trip to Mexico.  Butch graduated from Mount Vernon in 1980.  He first worked at Bihl’s Farm and later made a career and retired as an Investigator with the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles.

Butch was a member of Cedar Street Church of Christ in Christian Union in New Boston, Ohio.  He actively served in almost every capacity; song leader, youth leader, Sunday School teacher, and elder.  Butch loved singing gospel music. He sang baritone with the Cedar Street Men’s Quartet.  He loved his church family dearly and they loved him right back.

Funeral arrangements will be under the direction of D.W. Swick Funeral Home in Wheelersburg. To celebrate Butch’s life a funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Monday September 30, 2024 at Cedar Street Church of Christ in Christian Union with Pastor Brad Angus officiating. Interment will follow at Siloam Cemetery in South Shore, KY. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4 to 7 PM at the church and one hour prior to services on Monday.
