PPD officers responded to Southern Ohio Medical Center after a report that a woman assaulted a patient at the hospital.
Officers took a woman into custody and contacted Children’s Services about the issue. Police charged the woman with domestic assault and transported her to the Scioto County Jail.
Man Reports Attack on Tomato Plants
In a crime sure to horrify any Appalachian gardener, an Auburn Street man contacted Portsmouth Police at 10:35 am to report his neighbor for messing with his ‘maters.
He told police his drunken neighbor was coming over to his home at night and killing his tomato plants. He also said the neighbor was arguing with his security camera.
Police made contact with the neighbor and advised them to stay away from the plants.
Man Found With Needle in Arm in 7th Street Alley
Officers responded to a report of an overdose in the alley behind 7th Street at 6:21 pm. A caller reported a man lying with a needle in his arm.
When police responded to the scene with EMS personnel, the man refused treatment or a ride to the hospital. Police released him into the care of a friend.
Parolee Busted at Condemned Home
A wanted parolee found himself back behind bars after a witness reported four people at a condemned property on 8th Street.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found five people, including a man with an open warrant for parole violation.
Officers took the parolee into custody and wanted the other four people to stay off the property. They took the wanted man to jail for a parole violation, possession of criminal tools, and criminal trespass.
