A woman escaped a man who was on the point of choking her into unconsciousness by kicking him where it counts.
Officers responded to a report of a violent domestic situation just after 11 pm.
A woman called 911 to say her husband had attempted to strangle her, but she managed to get away from him and fled to her daughter’s home.
When Lawrence County Deputies arrived at the scene, the woman told them, she’d been sleeping when her husband woke her up yelling and screaming. When she told him to go back to sleep, he grabbed a wine table and smashed into the wall, shattering bottles all over the hall.
When she attempted to clean up the mess, he grabbed her by the throat with both hands and strangled her. She said she was on the point of blacking out when she kicked him in the genitals and managed to knock him off her and flee. She said her husband was still in the house.
Officers noted marks on the woman’s neck and discoloration around her eye. Her eyes were bloodshot, but officers weren’t sure if it was a result of a strangulation attempt.
Deputies went next door and arrested the man for domestic violence and strangulation without incident.
