Woman Tries to Repossess Service Dog

Woman Tries to Repossess Service Dog

Officers responded to 8th Street to settle a dispute over a service dog.  A man contacted officers just before 5 pm to report that a woman had taken his service animal. The man had a license that proved the dog was his service animal.

Officers headed to a 9th Street home to speak to the woman who had the dog. She said she had paid for the animal to be a service dog for the man, but she didn’t believe he was taking proper care of it, so she took it back.

Police explained that if she had concerns about the animal’s welfare, she needed to contact Animal Control and not take the dog herself.

Officers returned the dog to its owner.
