The Scioto County Grand Jury returned indictments on 12 counts of rape against 81-year-old Ezra Wright of Lucasville. You’ll recall that officers arrested Wright on multiple counts of child rape last week, and deputies also took his wife into custody.
When officers went to his home to look for him, his wife, 80-year-old Carolyn Wright, told officers he wasn’t there and had gone fishing. Officers didn’t buy her story and stayed nearby watching the home. They spotted a van leaving the property and pulled it over. The people inside the van confirmed that Mr. Wright was in the home with his wife. Officers knocked on the doors with no answer. Fearing the couple might commit suicide, deputies forced their way in and found the pair hiding in a bedroom.
Mrs. Wright was charged with obstruction of justice.
Judge Howard Harcha set bail at $100,000 on the condition that Mr. Wright wear an ankle monitor and avoid drugs and alcohol alcohol and Wright signed his own recognizance bond on July 24.
