5 Bizarre Effects of COVID

The coronavirus is a truly peculiar disease. While it does include some typical symptoms such as coughing, fever, and muscle aches, similar to the flu, COVID-19 has also been shown to cause some truly bizarre effects in some individuals, setting it far apart from any virus that had come before it. Here are just a few of the odd symptoms the virus has been shown to cause. Some of these effects last long after the COVID has left the body.

  1. Eye Problems

According to Mayo Clinic, some COVID patients have dealt with swollen eyelids, enlarged blood vessels, and even light sensitivity. If anything, this shows that the coronavirus truly affects every part of the body.

  2. Loss of Smell and Taste

Patients losing their sense of smell and taste is probably the most well-known and common of COVID’s bizarre symptoms, with some estimates projecting that around 80% of COVID patients report a loss of taste and smell to some degree. There’s a truly odd twist to this coming up.

  3. Blood Clotting

Another unique area of the body that some COVID patients are experiencing symptoms in is the cardiovascular system, with some patients dealing with blood clotting, which can increase the risk of heart attacks or strokes.

  4. Neurological Symptoms

The effects that the Coronavirus seems to have on the brain are not yet fully understood, but it seems that some possible neurological symptoms may include seizures, confusion, and an increased risk of some neurological diseases.

  5. COVID Toes

This is by far the most bizarre symptom of COVID that has yet to be reported. This respiratory illness is somehow causing patients to develop swelled red and purple toes that itch and burn. On the plus side, most patients that develop this symptom actually don’t deal with any other COVID symptom, and COVID toes usually go away after a short time.

Now, for the Truly Bizzare.

SCDN has uncovered a lasting symptom that is becoming more known to the medical community but is not widely known by the public. This bit of information just might help you or someone you know. SMELLING DEAD BODIES

A writer was being interviewed by a fellow news organization. During the conversation, an interesting sidebar came up. She stated that she smells a dead animal in her house when the heat comes on but nobody from the HVAC company smells anything. Nobody else smelled anything either. It turns out she had COVID but was asymptomatic. She didn’t even know she had it until she took the antibody test.

Next, we came across a chef who stated that cooking now makes her repulsively ill. Even things like the cinnamon smell of decay. With the case of the chef, she also experienced bizarre tastes like chemicals or sulfur.

It is believed that COVID destroys the sensory functions of the nose and tastebuds. Even after the recovery, the brain does not know how to interpret these signals and defaults to death or danger.

At this point, it is unknown how long these aftereffects may last.
