LUCASVILLE, OH — What began as a routine trip to pick up packages ended with the discovery of a deceased resident inside a Lucasville apartment.
Just before noon, a caller contacted 911 after going to an apartment at the Kelli Apartments to retrieve packages for a resident.
According to dispatch traffic, when the caller entered the apartment, they found the resident lying on the bedroom floor and immediately called for help.
The caller also advised dispatch that family members had already been notified and were on their way to the apartment.
🚑 EMS Confirms Resident Had Died
Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and confirmed the resident was deceased.
According to the report, it appeared the individual had likely been dead for some time before being discovered.
The Scioto County Coroner was notified and later authorized the release of the body to a local funeral home, which responded to transport the deceased.
Deputies documented the incident and completed a report.
⚠️ A Difficult Reality for First Responders
Unfortunately, welfare checks and unexpected discoveries like this are not uncommon.
Many people who live alone are found only after family members, neighbors, delivery drivers, landlords, or friends become concerned when they stop answering calls or fail to pick up mail or packages.
Authorities encourage residents to check on elderly or vulnerable friends, relatives, and neighbors—especially if they have not been seen or heard from for several days.
In this case, a simple trip to collect packages turned into a heartbreaking discovery for everyone involved.
