Mom Puts Kids On Bus For Virtual School

A mom who put her kids on the bus for virtual school and a man with a neck tattoo behaving badly in the women’s restroom at Kroger were just some of the calls PPD answered. We break down the highlights in these 11 slides.

Up To No Good

Just after 1:30 am, a caller told police he overheard two men on bikes plotting a robbery. He said one man had on a red jacket and a blue hat. Police checked the area and discovered a man with a warrant for a parole violation.

I Hear You Knocking

A Westwood Drive caller reported being awakened by someone beating on their back door at 3:38 am. Police didn’t see anyone in the area.

Worried Neighbor

A Russ Street caller contacted the police at 7:57 am. She was worried because her neighbors’ door was open and their dogs were out of the house. She advised both neighbors had health issues.

It turned out the dogs’ owners had just fallen asleep. Everyone was fine.

Moving In

Folks at a 12th Street business called at 8:48 am to report that someone had moved into their dumpsters. Officers advised them to throw out the belonging inside and secure the dumpsters. Employees found a credit card inside and gave it to the police.

Footprints In The Snow

A Wayne Avenue woman called at 9 am to express concern about a young relative she has custody of. She saw footprints outside his window in the snow and suspects he’s been stealing for an adult that he’s afraid of.

Officers took information for a report.

Ride Home

Police dropped some kids off at home just after 9:23 am. They had virtual school and their mother was informed, but she put them on the bus anyway.

Cry For Help

  • Officers responded to an attempted suicide just after 10 am. A woman took 24 Xanax. Police located her mother and called the rescue squad.
  • Just after 1 pm, a woman reported a suicide threat from her boyfriend. Police were unable to locate him.

Hey! That’s My Stuff

  • Just after 11:30 am, a caller reported the front tag missing from a vehicle on Garfield Avenue.
  • At 11:43 am, a Harding avenue man said someone took several items from his unlocked vehicle.
  • The U-Haul on Walnut reported a stolen catalytic converter at 12:22 pm.
  • A caller reported a vehicle break-in on Summit Street at 1:26 am. She said the title was missing from the glovebox.
  • At 3:42 pm, a Robinson Avenue woman reported a robbery. She said someone took $500 while she slept.

Can’t We All Just Get Along?

  • At 5:04 pm, police responded to the Woodbine Apartments for a report of a man and woman screaming and fighting. The wife told police she was going to pack her stuff and leave.
  • Police responded to Findlay Street at 7:24 pm for a report of two men and two women jumping a man. Officers got a statement from the victim and made a positive ID of the suspect.  The PFD transported the victim to the hospital.
  • At 9:41 pm, a caller told police her 8th Street neighbor was outside screaming for help and flipping her light switch off and on. When police arrived, the woman said it was just a verbal argument and everything was fine.

No Room Due To COVID

Officers picked up a man with a warrant out of Gallia County at 10:30 pm. However, Gallia County said they wouldn’t take him due to COVID.

Police transported the man to the Scioto County Jail.

The Guy With The Neck Tattoo

A man with a neck tattoo caused a disturbance in the women’s restroom at Kroger just before 11 pm. He bent a door hinge. Kroger wanted him barred from their property

PPD warned him to stay away.
