Body Discovered on 7th Street

Suspicious Activity

• At 12:18 am, a Grant Street caller reported hearing a gunshot. Officers stopped multiple people in the area but didn’t find anything suspicious.
• Police responded to a report of people getting out of a vehicle in the drive-through at PNC Bank on Gallia just after 1 am. Police discovered one of the women had an open warrant from New Boston. NBPD came to the scene and issued a summons. Police issued a summons to the vehicle’s driver for driving under suspension and no tags. They impounded his vehicle.
• A caller flagged down an officer at 4:24 am to report that some men had busted out the window of a vehicle at Wendy’s on the Scioto Trail. Officers took information for a report and arranged to have the vehicle towed.
• At 10:19 am, a caller reported a man walking south on Gallia with a rifle in his hand. Police could not locate the man.
• Officers answered a report of a man attempting to get into a unit in the Woodbine Apartments at 11:41 am. Police read the man his rights. It turned out to be a disagreement between a man and a woman. They requested he leave the property and he complied.

DOAs

• Just after 3 am, a 5th Street mom called police to report that she feared her daughter had passed away. Five units responded to the scene. Officers contacted the coroner and assisted at the scene.
• A 7th Street caller reported a woman, cold to the touch, purple, and not breathing at 6:11 pm.  Four units responded to the scene. Medics called the time of death at 6:29 pm.  Officers took information for a report and contacted the coroner.

Fighting Over Food Stamps

Just before noon, a caller reported two women arguing over a food stamp card on 4th street.

Officers spoke with both women. The food stamp card and a phone charger were returned to their owner. Since both women lived at the address, police could not ask either of them to leave.

Hey! That’s My Stuff

• A woman contacted police at 11:59 am to report that her daughter had her vehicle and she needed to figure out how to get it back.  She later decided to have the bank repossess it.
• A caller reported that family members were stealing from the Marshall Avenue home of a recently deceased relative just before 6 pm. Officers swung by the address to check the door and the caller said arrangements would be made to secure the property.
• At 7:39 pm, a Washington Street caller reported $600 missing out of his vehicle.

The Need For Speed

Police set up radar in the 4900 block of US 52 to look for speeders at 12:21 pm. They cited five drivers for driving over 65 mph in a 50 zone.

Under The Influence

• Just before 2 pm, a Linden Avenue caller reported a strange man with a bag going onto porches in the area. Officer discovered he had an open warrant and took him into custody. They found two baggies of powder in his pockets.
• A caller reported a man rolling around on the ground and yelling on 11th Street just after 2 pm. It turned out to be a man officers have arrested 39 times previously for similar incidents. They gave him a warning.
• An hour later, another caller reported him exposing himself on Gallia Street. Police spoke to him.
• Just after 2 pm, officers arrested a man for the 25th time. This time the warrant was for possessing drug instruments.

Better Mind Mom

A mom contacted the police and asked them to come to Kroger to handle a family dispute at 3:49 pm. She said her juvenile daughter was acting up in the parking lot.

The girl made threats to fight her mother and her siblings. Police advised all to behave.
