Ronald Clarence Sieling, 86, of Portsmouth, went home to be with his Savior on Tuesday, October 4, 2022. He was born April 12, 1936, in Portsmouth, a son of the late Luther and Louise Coriell Sieling.
Ron was a longtime member and Deacon Emeritus of Central Church of Christ, where he also served as the bus driver for the Double Nickle Club. He enjoyed driving and traveling with his wife Linda, and he was a member of the Men’s and Mixed Bowling Leagues at Sunset Lanes.
A distributor for the Columbus Dispatch, the Portsmouth Daily Times as well as other papers for 42 years, he began his newspaper career at a young age by starting the paper route in Minford so he could purchase his first motorcycle. He went on to work at Ideal Milk and Minford Dry Cleaners as a driver. Later, Ron bought the newspaper building at Jackson Ave. & Harmon St. and ran his paper business from there, employing many carriers over his career.
On May 8, 1954, Ron wed Linda Lou Henson Sieling in Greenup, KY, and the couple recently celebrated 68 years of marriage.
In addition to his beloved wife Linda, Ron is also survived by two sons, Michael Ray (Debbie) Sieling of Portsmouth and Mitchell Wayne (Gina) Sieling of Mason; five grandchildren, Ronda (Matt) Harlow, Lindsey (Mike) Wilkinson, Genie (Matt) Groff, Lisa (Blake) Miller and Brian (Whitney) Sieling; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his brother-in-law, Charles Ray (Sandy) Henson of Nicholasville, KY; former sister-in-law and travel enthusiast, Shanna Rae Henson of Columbia, SC; and his best buddy, dog Jaxson.
Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. Friday at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Ministers Thayer Wallace and Dennis Dawes officiating. Interment will follow in Mound Cemetery in Piketon.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 11 A.M. until the funeral hour.
