Officers Seize Pot Plant on 30th Street
Just before noon, police received a tip about possible drug activity on 30th Street.
When officers arrived to investigate, no one answered the door. However, they were able to spot a marijuana plant in plain view in the backyard from a neighbor’s house.
Police considered that probable cause to impound and destroy the plant.
Suspicious Stranger Spotted Near McDermott Church
Witnesses out in the county spotted a lot of suspicious activity over the weekend. On Friday morning, a caller reported a man stumbling in the roadway on Carver Ridge Road. They said he kept going into people’s driveways.
A deputy headed to the area, but was not able to find him.
Thirty minutes later, a McDermott caller reported a man lingering around the United Methodist Church. They were concerned because there numerous items at the church slated to be sold in a yard sale.
Officers checked the area but could not locate the man.
Just after 10 pm, a witness reported a man under her vehicle at the Resthaven Nursing Home. She also said there were people lurking in the abandoned building next door. A deputy searched the area, but did not locate anyone. They suggested that better parking lot lighting would be a good idea.
Passed Out at the Wheel
Right around 1 pm, a witness contacted PPD to report a man passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle at a stop sign at Highland and Lincoln.
When officers responded to the scene, they took the 51-year-old driver into custody for driving under the influence. The court set bond at $1,000.
