Police Investigate Threats to SOMC
A series of cryptic social media posts regarding Southern Ohio Medical Center sent officers to a Vinton Avenue residence to speak to a 35-year-old Portsmouth man.
The man had posted that he was “Gonna see what kind of security/satfy procedures the urgent care has this morning.” and “Will either be in jail by 9am and lawsuit will be started shortly after or SOMC can admit to being cheap for giving me off brand meds that don’t work”
The man went on to post a variety of complaints about the poor care he had received from the hospital.
SOMC had already served the man with a letter barring him from the property and officers said he did not seem suicidal or homicidal, just emotional. Officers advised him of his options and suggested he contact a mental health provider.
The man was not happy about the police visit and complained that the hospital had spent 25 years misdiagnosing him.
