Child & Dogs Left Alone In Filthy Wayne Hills Apartment For Two Weeks After Mom Dies
Police did a welfare check on a teenager in response to a call from a PMHA employee. The employee said the tenant of a Kendall Avenue apartment passed away on the 1st of the month, and her 16-year-old child was living alone in what they described as a filthy apartment.
When police arrived at the home, they discovered a family friend was attempting to help clean the apartment. Officers contacted CPS, and a worker said they would submit the information for a follow-up.
Two hours later, CPS asked officers to meet them at the apartment while they removed the child from the home.
Around 12:30 pm, a man contacted the police because he wanted to get his property from the apartment. He told officers there were several people there doing drugs. When officers arrived on the scene, they told everyone to get out because the person who had the lease was deceased.
Since there were four dogs left behind in the home, officers contacted Animal Control to remove them. The people left, and the dogs were removed without incident.
