Drunk Man Tears Off Girlfriend’s Clothes

Officers responded to Wheelersburg after a report of an out-of-control boyfriend. At 10:30 pm, a witness said the man pulled up in front of a home and began to tear off his girlfriend’s clothes because he thought she looked like a “whore.”

When officers arrived at the scene, they found the man highly intoxicated and uncooperative. They said he kept hitting his head against the inside of the cruiser window.

Deputies transported him to the hospital to make sure he wasn’t injured and then booked him into the Scioto County Jail.

Jail Refuses Wanted Suspect

At 6:33 am, police responded to a report of a man yelling the backyard of an 11th Street home.

Officers discovered there was an open warrant for the man’s arrest and took him into custody. The jail refused the arrest due to the volatile and potentially dangerous condition of the man.

Police dealt with him the previous in the day and his condition rapidly declined throughout the night.

As we’ve reported many times before, the hospital is no longer an option for people in an active mental health or drug induced crisis.

The jail has a legal obligation for inmate safety. It is not uncommon for them to refuse a person that poses an active danger to staff and inmates.

The police had no choice but to realse the man in crisis back to the streets and document the incident.

Burglary Suspect Busted After Gallia Street Break-In

Just before 8 am, the owner of a Gallia Street business reported that someone had broken in and they wanted police to check if anyone was still inside.

An officer cleared the building, and there were items missing, but the owner did not wish to file a report.

However, officers detained a suspicious man at Gallia and Young at 1 pm and questioned him about the break-in. The items he had with him matched the items missing from the business. Police impounded the property.

Deputy Drives Into Ditch in Lucasville

A deputy responding to a call to assist an ambulance crew, ended up needing one for himself.

Just after 1 am, medics said they had a bad feeling about a call and requested a deputy stand by for safety.

However, a deputy responding to the scene ended up running into a ditch. The deputy didn’t think he needed medical attention, but when another deputy arrived, they requested a squad to check out the officer for a head injury.

An ambulance transported the deputy to the hospital, and a tow truck rescued the squad car. The hospital released the deputy to return to work.

German Shepherd Attack on Woodview Drive

Officers responded to a Rosemount home after a caller said a neighbor’s German Shepherd attacked her and her dog on her porch.

When officers responded to the Woodview Drive home, they noted the woman had a scratch on her arm, but she refused an ambulance.

Officers went to the attacking dog’s home, but were unable to get out of the vehicle due to the dog’s behavior. They attempted to reach the owner by phone without success.

Officers forwarded a report to the dog warden.
