It was a busy Tuesday night for Portsmouth Fire and Rescue. As they were attending to a situation with a struck pedestrian near Little Ceasars, a call of a structure fire rang out.
The first on the scene described as seeing smoke coming from the upper level of the home.
It was planned for the Portsmouth Fire Department to use the fire hydrant at Lincoln and 6th to control the incident. It was however canceled since they believed the firefighters could stop the fire without any additional assistance.
They checked if the home was on the “Condemned List”. Upon hearing that it was not on the list, a Fire Department official responded, “It should be”.
Several units remained on the scene to ensure that the shambled home did not pose a danger to the nearby residents.
This photo is from Google and it’s 10 years old. It is easy to imagine how this home has deteriorated since then.
