A child begged for help from CPS, but was left in a chaotic situation and forced to fend for himself and endure some extremely traumatic events before finally being taken out of an unbearable situation.
Just after 8:30 p.m., the child walked into a rural carryout and called 9-1-1 for help. The child reported that CPS had been to his home earlier in the day to investigate possible abuse, but left him in the home due to lack of evidence.
However, after that investigation, the child claimed his mother overdosed and was rushed to the hospital and he claimed his father had further abused him.
An adult contacted 9-1-1 to report that they had left the child with a family member while they went to the hospital and the child left home without permission. The caller said the child was a liar and they no longer wanted the child at the house and officers should transport him to a family member’s home in Portsmouth.
Officers contacted CPS and arranged to release the child to a relative in town.
