CPS Rescues Child In Living Garage

CPS Rescues Child In Living Garage
Just after 5 pm, Police accompanied a Children’s Services worker to a Glen Street home to check on a child in a sad situation.
The little girl and her father were living in a garage in the back of a Glen Street home. The child’s ill father was being transported to the hospital by the fire department.
The child was not ill but did accompany her father to the hospital. CPS also went to the hospital to continue their investigation of the situation.
Under the Influence
- A witness contacted officers at 7:30 pm to report a man passed out on the steps of a Gay Street Church. An officer advised the man of the location of the nearest homeless shelter.
- At 10 pm, a caller reported a man walking around the area of Spartan Stadium yelling at himself. Police could not locate him.
Shots Fired on 7Th Street
At 11:23 pm, a caller reported a shooting on 7th Street. Witnesses said subjects in a black Hummer and a truck fired 6 shots at home and them left Westbound towards the Dollar Store.
Officers stopped a vehicle at 7th and Lincoln and detained a man in conjunction with the investigation.
Unwanted Guest
A resident of the Woodbine Apartments on Kendall Avenue contacted officers just after 4:30 am to report a strange man sitting on her porch making a bunch of noise.
Police discovered there was an open warrant on the guy and took him into custody.
Kentucky Rehab Patient Dumped in Portsmouth
A Kentucky rehab patient was dumped in Portsmouth with no place to go. Police were first alerted to the situation around 10:30 when the man’s father called to complain that the man was dropped off near his house and had contacted him.
Police suggested that the man go to the homeless shelter with his garbage bags full of belongings. However, the man said he was in withdrawal and couldn’t walk.
An officer contacted the rehab facility who said they had attempted to drop the man at a homeless shelter but he claimed difficulty breathing and got out of the truck, so the driver freaked out and left him.
The officer spoke with someone at the homeless shelter who seemed upset that there would be a lot of paperwork associated with letting the guy stay with them for a few hours.
The man agreed to leave his belongings behind a dumpster. Finally, police contacted his sister who agreed she would get him later in the day.
