David Leroy Stevenson, 82, of Portsmouth, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Portsmouth Health and Rehab. Born August 12, 1943, in Portsmouth, he was the son of Rachel Leona Stevenson.
A 1961 graduate of South Portsmouth High School, David served two years in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, including one year in Vietnam. In recognition of his service, he received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Service Star.
David attended Temple Baptist Church and retired from M&J Welding Co. in Lucasville.
He was preceded in death on April 4, 2012, by his wife, Connie Sue Oppy Stevenson.
Surviving are his two daughters, Dena (Mark) Taylor of West Portsmouth, and Andrea (C.J.) Woods of Portsmouth; and two grandchildren, Kieran Woods and Gabriel Taylor.
David was also preceded in death by two brothers, Terry R. Stevenson, Sr., and Michael Stevenson.
Graveside services will be held in the Northeast Kentucky Veterans Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth.
David gave the Gift of Life through organ and tissue donation.
