Dennis Harold Dexter, 68, of South Shore, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born in Springfield, Ohio, on November 15, 1957, to the late Dennis Leroy and Olive Jeanette Sheley Dexter.
Dennis was the fourth son of his father, who was the fourth son of his father and was named after his father and maternal grandfather. He was full of energy and had a big heart for his family and friends, with a special bond to his neighbor, JoJo. Dennis loved spending time outdoors, particularly enjoying fishing and hunting whenever he had the chance.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life, Lou Dexter.
He is survived by three brothers: Gene Dexter (and his wife, Rose) of Jacksonville, North Carolina; Eddie Dexter (and his wife, Janet) of Ormond Beach, Florida; and Dave Dexter (and his wife, Robin) of South Charleston, Ohio. Additionally, he is survived by two sisters: Dot Lemmings (and her husband, Charlie) of Springfield, Ohio, and Deb Arnold of Xenia, Ohio. He is also remembered by the Nickels family, who were a special adopted family, as well as several nieces and nephews, and many other family members and friends who will greatly miss him.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, May 18, 2026, at Reed Cemetery in Greenup, Kentucky, with Ryan Vogelgesang officiating. Dennis is under the care of Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore, Kentucky.
