Homeless Light Fire Behind Gallia Street Business
The ongoing issue with homeless people and addicts troubling Gallia Street businesses shows no signs of letting up.
As we told you previously, at one point, Speedway’s corporate security contacted PPD and asked them to do something about the issue.
The first call of the day came from the owner of the AT & T Wireless building. Just after 11 am, they requested to speak with an officer about an issue with homeless people. An officer responded to the scene and trespassed a homeless individual from the property.
Just before 9 pm, an officer noticed a large fire going on behind Jack Fish & Sons in the 2300 block of Gallia. Police had previously spoken to the owner, who was tired of people camping out behind the property.
The officer advised the people on the scene to put out the fire and leave. They couldn’t contact the owner to see if he wanted to press trespass charges, so they allowed the individuals to leave the scene.
At 11:30 pm, police stopped a suspicious person at the Speedway in the 2400 block of Gallia and took a woman into custody on charges of possessing drug paraphernalia and driving under a suspension.
Woman Strikes Out at Lazy Boyfriend
Just after 2 pm, officers responded to Thomas Avenue when a man reported his girlfriend threw something at him and hit him.
When officers arrived at the scene, the woman said she got into an argument with him because he doesn’t clean the house, doesn’t work, and doesn’t help with the bill.
The man told officers he did not want to file any kind of report.
