James A. Robinson Jr., a dedicated US Naval Vietnam Veteran who served aboard the USS Affray (MSO 511), passed away on July 8th, 2024, at his residence in New Boston, OH. Born on March 24th, 1947, in Baltimore, MD, Mr. Robinson was a man of honor and service, having enlisted in the Navy on April 3rd, 1964, and reaching the rank of RM3 – E4 before his discharge on March 20th, 1968.
Throughout his life, James made an impact as a successful salesman in the automobile industry and as a talented photographer, having acquired the photography business formerly known as “Portraits by Jackie.” His passion for capturing moments extended to documenting the beauty in the many communities of Chillicothe, Waverly, Portsmouth, and Greenup, KY – a legacy that will be cherished by many.
James was preceded in death by his parents, James A. and Thelma L. (Nee Byrne) Robinson, Sr.
He found joy in his travels to the Smoky Mountains, where he relished in the sights, shows, and experiences the region had to offer. He leaves behind a rich legacy of love and memories, survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Michael Spradlin of Minford, his daughters Teresa Robinson, Kathy (Joe) Grubb, Jamie (TR) Hensley, stepson Cecil (Brittany) Collins, numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Private family services and ceremonies honoring his life will be held at the convenience of the family. His dedication to his country, his talents as a photographer, and his unwavering love for his family will live on in the hearts of those he touched. May he rest in eternal peace.
